Dream House

Well, ok, maybe not THE dream house, but what we would like to do to our existing house if we were to stay here for any length of time. This is the first real project that I used Google SketchUp for and will continue to add and implement to this drawing as I learn things. This will explain why all the windows and detailing are incomplete for the moment. My main focus of this was to see how it would look in the "Big Picture" and continue to add as I go.

We have a tiny house, 970 square feet, with a detatched garage. Our kitchen sits
in the corner of the house closest to the garage. It's pretty small with no room
for a table that seats a family of four. So it would make sense to add on
to that corner of the house attaching to the garage, using the
existing service door of the garage as point-of-entry to the kitchen.
Keeping all the plumbing on the east wall (back of the house) where it is,
I would like to create an island there and make room for more
cabinets and windows on the walls.

I would love to add a bay window on the back of the addition, to make a nook for the kids to read their books on a rainy day, looking out to the back yard and gardens. And adding a door to the north side of the addition and a wrap around deck making way to the existing concrete paver patio. Now the yard isn't to scale, it is a bit larger, but a complete 6' tall cedar privacy fence would be nice. Oh well, we can dream right? More to come later...
